The Power of Gratitude

“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” -Melody Beattie

Gratitude is about being thankful for what we have and how far we’ve come. It sets aside the challenges and struggles we may be facing and taking a heartfelt look at where we are in life. Of course there are going to be crazy times we go through, yet if we take an honest look at what’s going on, odds are good you’re either reading this on your smartphone right now or it’s within reach. It wasn’t that many years ago that the only way you could read the words of another came from something that was printed or came in the form of a letter. It’s pretty amazing we have this opportunity and is worth our gratitude.

Or how about the fact that you can even read this at all! There are areas in the world in which the literacy we take for granted is still a gift not all can partake in. Let’s be grateful we have this magnificent ability to read.

Are you wearing clothes today? Do you have friends and family you can speak with? Do you know where your next meal is coming from? Do you know how to walk?

No matter what challenges we may be facing, there is so much abundance around us at all times and all we need to do is shift our focus ever so slightly to see it. In fact a great exercise for you to consider in your down time is to create a list of all the things you’re grateful for. They can be big or small, just as long as they are yours and help you see how much amazing things there really are in your life.

This might seem weird, but it runs on the principle that we never get what it is we want, and always get what we focus on. And if you want to attract greater things into your life, start looking for the good instead of the bad and watch how your life transforms.

Rest assured you’ll be even more grateful.
